10-Year-Old Identifies ‘Star Trek’-’Inside Out’ Music Crossover; I Haven’t Seen the Find Online

A girl from northern Utah has identified an “Inside Out” theme-“Star Trek” note scheme crossover; I haven’t seen it online (even on Reddit!). Ashtyn Wilkinson told me about it after she listened to music that concludes “Star Trek: Nemesis.”

Ashtyn was 10 years old at the time. (She is 11 now.)

Ashtyn is my daughter. However, even from a journalistic perspective, this is pretty nuts.

I shared “A New Ending,” composer Jerry Goldsmith’s score to end “Star Trek: Nemesis,” with Ash. Then she noted that a note scheme (between 0:04–0:15 of the immediate prior hyperlink) is also in the “Inside Out” films. (I recommend listening to 0:08–1:04, 1:08–1:39 and/or 3:12–4:09 of this video with the “Inside Out” theme.)

I checked. She was right. (0:13–0:15 of “A New Ending” is a little different from the notes as heard in the final three seconds of the three time spans of the “Inside Out” theme video. However, it’s pretty close, and there is the note scheme before that.)
