13 Northern Utah Locations That Are Great for Vacations
Growing up in northern Utah, I am familiar with locations in the state’s region that are fantastic for making part of vacations. Northern Utah (“the Wasatch Front”) is not the Los Angeles area, where I’ve lived. But it’s not the lower quadrants of Wyoming, either.
To be sure. (I’ve lived in all of them.)
Below are 13 destinations I recommend. They aren’t in any particular order.

- Brighton Resort: An ideal location for a family ski trip — it’s a great place where kids can learn to ski.
- Bonneville Salt Flats: Scenes from “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” were filmed here.
- Park City Alpine Slide: You ride down a mountain on a track — it’s way fun!
- A Utah Jazz game: Fandom of the Jazz is as high as folks have for Boston sports, I am convinced, having been to a Boston Red Sox game.

- Midway: Incredible geocaching is here.
- The Utah Museum of Contemporary Art: An incredible counter-cultural location in the state, which I am sure is unintentional.
- The Canyons Resort: It’s been named one of North America’s greatest ski/snowboard resorts.
- A University of Utah football game: The Utes have been overachieving under coach Kyle Whittingham.

- Gossner Foods in Logan: Different types of cheeses are worth sampling.
- City Creek Center in Salt Lake City: The products and shopping at the downtown Salt Lake mall are first rate.
Look for Jazz players at the Apple store. (At least, they went to the store, which has been here since Nov. 2012, often in the late 2010s.)

- Shopping malls in the Provo-Orem area: The products and shopping are first rate here as well.
- Mom-and-pop restaurants in downtown Salt Lake City: Which have interesting eats and it’s not difficult to find discounts.
- The Salt Palace Convention Center (do an event): Different types of conventions run throughout the year at the former home of the Jazz.
