An assassination attempt was made on former U.S. President Donald Trump. (Also, Corey Comperatore died protecting his family from gunfire.) Below are seven thoughts regarding the attempt.

Media coverage has been shameful

The photographers who put themselves in harm’s way should be applauded. However, five or six articles in the first about 18 hours after the attempt made me cringe. Among them was NPR downplaying the incident, CNN claiming that Trump fell, and The Washington Post saying “Trump says he was shot in ear.” Media were also hesitant to call Trump even getting shot an assassination attempt; that’s now being said virtually everywhere. The FBI may not have given their assessment yet, but still.

Video footage makes it crystal clear that Trump intentionally went to the ground because of the shooting danger, which certainly threatened him. And that he was shot in the ear.

Is it surprising that an attempt on Trump’s life didn’t come sooner?
