I Went to an LA ER Because I Had 3 Thoughts in a Week of Cutting Off the Dick. The Psychiatrist Didn’t Even Talk About It With Me. And a Nurse There Sexually Assaulted Me.

I left more upset than when I went in.

If you need an emergency room over being a woman with a male body, I don’t recommend Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles.

I went there in late June or early July because I had three thoughts in a week of cutting off the dick unexpectedly still attached to my body. The psychiatrist who met with me — the person who should have talked about it with me — didn’t. And then, a nurse there sexually assaulted me.

When I told an intake staff member why I was there, he stared at me blankly, eyes wide. It seems clear he wasn’t expecting me to tell him it’s because I had three thoughts in a week of cutting off the dick.

After his initial reaction, he told me that I would be put in touch with a psychiatrist. She is who I was supposed to talk with.

The first staff member beyond intake misgendered me despite knowing my name and seeing my wristband, which says my name and gender. He saw my wristband because his job with me as much as anything was to check information on it.
